CEO George Halvorson Talks Health Reform at Fifth Annual World Health Care Congress

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan/Hospitals CEO George Halvorson joined with a number of Kaiser Permanente employees and physicians who provided key insights at the fifth annual World Health Care Congress this week in Washington, D.C.

Halvorson participated in a Monday keynote session, "The Presidential Health Care Agenda," in which he was asked for in-depth critiques of U.S. presidential candidates' platforms for health care reform. He also gave an address to the general session titled "A Practical Model to Achieve Health Reform" and was a panelist in a session discussing health care in Africa and his experience in Uganda.

Leading up to the annual Congress, Halvorson also recorded a podcast titled, "Reforming the Delivery of Care to Impact 85 Percent of Total Health Care Costs."

Other Kaiser Permanente executives providing insight at the Congress included Francis J. Crosson, MD, senior medical director of The Permanente Federation; Anna-Lisa Silvestre, vice president of online services; Kate Christensen, MD, medical director for the Internet Services Group at Kaiser Permanente and member of the Northern California Institutional Review Board; Jan Oldenberg, practice leader for health content, Internet Services Group; and Paul Wallace, MD, medical director for Health and Productivity Management Programs for The Permanente Federation.
