Volunteer Services Department

POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Volunteer Services Department, the Hospitality Volunteer delivers items to patient’s room which may include newspapers, mail, flowers, etc. Provides assistance to patients, visitors and others at the information desk.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: All volunteers must attend Volunteer Orientation, sign a Confidentiality statement, complete health testing and security photo identification, and wear appropriate uniform when on duty. Volunteers must be in good health and must follow Kaiser Permanente rules. A trained volunteer provides orientation to the Information Desk.

Ability to speak clearly and be understood in the English language.

Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills: A friendly demeanor with a positive attitude.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FACTORS:

* Hearing and sight must be adequate with or without accommodation to carry out duties.
* Ability to walk 1/4 mile up to 4 times per day.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
* Ability to hear and speak clearly for staff, patient and visitor contact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide assistance at the information desk.
* If shift requires, deliver mail and newspapers to patients’ rooms.
* Deliver flowers, balloons, and gift shop items to patients’ room as necessary.
* Perform minor jobs as requested by staff, i.e., collating, stapling and stuffing envelopes.
* Escort visitors throughout facility if needed.
* Assist in training new volunteers.
* Understand and follow strict confidentiality guidelines.
