
NAPA ALLERGY JOB DESCRIPTION
Hours: M-W-TH***8:30am-12:30pm***1:30pm-5pm
POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the department staff, Allergy volunteers provide assistance to Health Plan Members.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: All volunteers must attend Volunteer Orientation, sign a Confidentiality statement, complete health testing and security photo identification, and wear appropriate uniform when on duty. Volunteers must be in good health and must follow Kaiser Permanente rules. Orientation to the Allergy Department is provided by department staff.
Ability to speak clearly and be understood in the English language.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills: A friendly demeanor with a positive attitude; ability to give instructions in a clear and concise manner. Volunteers are expected to keep current on medical center changes.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FACTORS:
* Hearing and sight must be adequate with or without accommodation to carry
out duties.
* Ability to hear and speak clearly for staff, patient and visitor contact.
COMPETENCIES:
* Work effectively with others
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Keep track of patients in waiting area.
* Track waiting time for patients receiving allergy shots.
* Operate VCR for patients receiving allergy testing.
* Do paperwork for staff as requested.
* Act as a liaison between waiting patients and appropriate staff..
* Assist in training of new volunteers.
* Read the posted notices and memos at the beginning of each shift.
* Understand and follow strict confidentiality guidelines..
