
REACH OUT AND READ PROGRAM
Monday-Friday***8:30am-5pm***Saturday-Sunday***9am-5pm
POSITION PURPOSE: Read to patients in the Pediatric waiting room.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: All volunteers must attend Volunteer Orientation, sign a Confidentiality statement, complete health testing and security photo identification, and wear appropriate uniform when on duty. Volunteers must be in good health and must follow Kaiser Permanente rules. Orientation to the Reach Out And Read program is provided by trained volunteers or Pediatric staff members.
Ability to speak clearly and be understood in the English language.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills: A friendly demeanor with a positive attitude; ability to give instructions in a clear and concise manner. Volunteers are expected to keep current on medical center changes.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FACTORS:
* Hearing and sight must be adequate with or without accommodation to carry
out duties.
* Ability to hear and speak clearly for staff, patient and visitor contact.
COMPETENCIES:
* Work effectively with others
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* 1 hour shift of reading aloud to children and their parents in the Pediatric
waiting room.
