Volunteer Services Department
POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Health Education staff, Health Education Volunteers provide assistance to members, visitors, and staff using the Health Education Department.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: All volunteers must attend Volunteer Orientation, sign a Confidentiality statement, complete health testing and security photo identification, and wear appropriate uniform when on duty. Volunteers must be in good health and must follow Kaiser Permanente rules. A Health Education staff member provides orientation to the Health Education Department.
Ability to speak clearly and be understood in the English language.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills: A friendly demeanor with a positive attitude; ability to give information in a clear and concise manner. Volunteers are expected to keep current on medical center changes.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FACTORS:
* Hearing and sight must be adequate with or without accommodation to carry
out duties.
* Ability to walk 1/4 mile up to 4 times per day.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
* Ability to stand for periods of time

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Immediately recognize visitors and respond to their need in a pleasant, competent
manner.
* Assist Department visitors in locating class information, pamphlets and videos.
* Copy materials as requested by staff and visitors.
* Compile packets of resources for class and other programs.
* Replenish pamphlet holders in Department and throughout the facility.
* Familiarize oneself with all information in the Department.
* Read the posted notices and memos at the beginning of each shift.
* Assist in training new volunteers.
* Understand and follow strict confidentiality guidelines.
