Built in 1984 to provide increased service to members in
South Sacramento, the medical complex opened its hospital
in 1985. The center was completed in 1991 with the addition
of a second medical office building, and includes:
175 Licensed Beds
Over 200 Physicians
Over 1600 Medical Support Staff
Service to over 177,000 members
Our new medical offices in Elk Grove opened in fall, 2003.
Programs
Programs and services at the South Sacramento facility include:
Full inpatient and emergency services, including intensive
care for adults and children
Family-centered labor and delivery programs that have
been acclaimed for making the facility a baby friendly
hospital,
A psychiatry clinic
Services such as adult medicine, allergy, cardiology,
dermatology, head and neck surgery, obstetrics/gynecology,
neurology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, optometry, pediatrics,
podiatry, physician medicine, preventive medicine and surgery,
and occupational medicine specialists
A commitment to community health. Kaiser Permanente recently
received the Sustained Community Achievement Award for its
commitment to community health during the 2002 People
Helping People Business Awards in Sacramento. The
award, given annually by the Community Services Planning
Council, honors local businesses and organizations that
are committed to exceptional community service.
We are working to establish nurse-to-patient ratios in our
hospitals that are lower than the ratios recently announced
by Gov. Gray Davis. We are committed to establishing a 4:1
ratio on our medical/surgical floors.
