The Kaiser Foundation
School of Nursing Alumni (KFSNA) began in 1944 when
Dr. Garfield wrote the California Board of Nurse Examiners
requesting that the Permanente Foundation Hospital in Oakland,
and the Permanente Field Hospital in Richmond establish a
three-year diploma in nursing. The school continued until
1976 and graduated 1065 students.
The Kaiser Foundation School
of Nursing Alumni Association (KFSNAA) is made up of graduates
from KFSN. The group actively supports nursing careers and
meets several times a year.
