DESCRIPTION
This one day training includes presentation, discussion and interaction related to the power of precepting, working with a preceptee from a different culture, dealing with a challenging or failing preceptee, strategies for improving clinical reasoning, and what makes for a successful practice team.
OBJECTIVES
Participants will:
Recognize support for their roles as nurse preceptors at Kaiser Permanente.
Recognize methods for dealing with a challenging or failing preceptee.
Understand strategies for working with a preceptee who has a different learning style or comes from a different cultural background.
Gain an understanding of the characteristics of a successful practice team.
Gain an understanding of some strategies for improving a preceptee's organization, time management, and clinical reasoning.
