The target audience for this class is Registered Nurses with a minimum of 18 months' experience as a Critical Care RN. Prerequisite for the class is 18 months' experience as a Critical Care RN.
DESCRIPTION
The CCRN Review class provides a strong foundation to prepare for and pass the CCRN exam administered by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. In addition to attending a CCRN Review class, individual study is essential for success on the exam . The class encompasses the AACN clinical synergy model and test questions. Test taking strategies are integrated through out this 3-day course. Participants are expected to have a solid critical care knowledge base and substantial critical care clinical experience.
OBJECTIVE
At the conclusion of this course the participant will be able to:
Discuss Acute Coronary Syndromes and Valvular Disease with treatment strategies.
Describe accurate analysis of CVP, arterial, venous and PAOP waveforms.
Compare and contrast pathophysiology, assessment, and clinical management of Diabetes Insipidus, Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion (SIADH,) Thyroid storm, Myxedema Coma, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, and Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar Non-ketotic Syndrome.
Explain the pathophysiology, diagnostic tests and clinical management of acute pancreatitis, esophageal varices and acute GI bleeding, acute liver failure, and stress ulcer prevention in the ICU patient.
Describe various types of shock states and cardiomyopathy with appropriate nursing interventions.
Describe acute and chronic heart failure with current treatment modalities.
Discuss Neutropenia/AIDS, and the pathophysiology of Acute Leukemia and AIDS
List the possible causes of and treatments for Asthma/ARDS/ARF/Pulmonary Embolus/COPD.
Describe the different modes of ventilation.
Discuss clinical strategies to prevent the development of pre-renal, intra renal and post-renal failure.
Define ICP and describe the management of ICP.
Describe the clinical management of an epidural bleed and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Identify two inclusion criteria for administration of fibrinolytics for treatment of stroke.
