| TARGET AUDIENCE
The Critical Care & Transitional Care Training Program is designed for Registered Nurses new to Critical Care, Transitional Care, or Cardiac Monitoring Units, Post Anesthesia Care Unit or Cardiac Catheterization Lab and should be taken in conjunction with a precepted clinical experience. Prerequisite for the Program is current employment as an RN new to Critical Care, Transitional Care, Cardiac Monitoring Unit, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, or Cardiac Catheterization Lab and approval of the Manager of that unit.
DESCRIPTION
The Program provides a review of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Renal, Gastrointestinal, Metabolic and Neurological systems. Sepsis, Hemodynamic Monitoring, Palliative Care for the Critically Ill, Mechanical Ventilation, and DIC, Shock and Sepsis lectures conclude the didactic portion of the Program.
OBJECTIVE
By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Name the assessment parameters, interventions and evaluations appropriate for the critically ill patient.
- Discuss a Case Study of a patient for whom the participant has personally provided care.
- Actively participate in the classroom discussions about critically ill patients.
Critical Care Training Program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 2366, for 66. Transitional Care Training Program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 2366, for 60 hours.
