Focused Assessment for Hospital-Based RN's: The Adult
Any Kaiser RN may register for this class but Hospital - Based RN's who perform hands-on patient care will be given preference for enrollment.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for the Focused Assessment class is Hospital-based RN's who provide hands-on clinical patient care.
DESCRIPTION
This one-day class will include a brief review of physical assessment principles as related to the cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, gastrointestinal/genitourinary systems and will emphasize demonstration and practice using simulated clinical situations. The class will incorporate the use of SBAR for communications and will include information about use of the rapid response team.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
Identify normal physical and sensory capacities related to the cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal and neurological systems
Demonstrate familiarity with beginning principles and methods of physical examination related to the cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal and neurological systems.
Demonstrate clinical reasoning based upon participation in, and observation of, simulated patient scenarios.
Program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 2365 for 6 contact hours.
