| TARGET AUDIENCE
Nurses participating in concurrent clinical experience in a Perinatal Unit with a Perinatal nurse preceptor or greater than 200 hours (twenty 12 hour shifts or twenty-five 8 hour shifts) of clinical experience in hospital based perinatal setting (Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, Post-partum) is strongly recommended. Consideration will be given to those without concurrent or previous experience if appealed in writing to the course coordinator.
DESCRIPTION
In conjunction with the Neonatal Basics/NICU Phase I class, this course will review the care of the Perinatal patient, with a variety of healthcare disorders and concerns. In conjunction with the Neonatal Basics/NICU Phase I class, the student will learn the critical elements to caring for the patient, the newborn, and the family.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, the student will have the knowledge to care for the Perinatal patient with a variety of healthcare disorders and concerns. The student will understand the critical elements to care for the patient, the newborn, and the family.
Program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 2365 for 48 contact hours.
