Kaiser Permanente Allied Health Care Education Scholarship Program
The Kaiser Permanente Allied Health Care Education Scholarship Program was created to achieve the following objectives:
Increase the number of appropriately trained allied health professionals in California
Encourage underrepresented minorities to pursue the allied health profession
Encourage allied health care professionals to practice direct patient care in medically underserved areas of California
Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in or accepted to California accredited allied health care programs for school related expenses. Priority is given to those enrolled in the following professional specialties:
Laboratory
Medical Imaging
Occupational Therapy
Pharmacists & Pharmacy Technicians
Physical Therapists & Physical Therapy Assistants
Respiratory Care
Social Work
We award scholarships twice a year in the amounts of $2000 and $2500, depending on financial need and cost of education.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify for a Kaiser Permanente Allied Health Care Education Scholarship, an applicant must:
Be accepted by an accredited allied health care education program within the state of California
Be a U.S. citizen or be a legal U.S. resident
Provide three letters of recommendation from former teachers/employers or other community representatives
Scholarship awardees must agree to practice direct patient care for at least one year in a paid position in a medically underserved area within California or serve 100/150 volunteer hours in a medically underserved area of the state for every $2000/$2500 in scholarship monies received.
All applicants will also be asked to provide a financial assessment. Any financial documentation provided by a financial aid office must be submitted along with the completed application.
Applicants can be eligible for repeat application for up to five years based on financial need and good academic standing in a California allied health care education program.
Selection of Awardees
The criteria used in determining the award of each $2000/$2500 scholarship are as follows:
The applicant's work/volunteer experience
The community background of the applicant, including residence in a medically underserved area
The applicant's career goals
Prior academic performance and potential for future academic success
Financial need (considering school budget, number of family members you're supporting and other resources)
Priority consideration will be given to full-time students and part-time students who can complete their program requirements in the shortest amount of time.

The Raymond Kay Educational Assistance Program offers a limited number of interest-free educational loans, up to $2,000 per year, to qualified employees (and their children) for health care education.
Program Requirements:
Acceptance as a full-time student into an educational program resulting in state licensure or certification to provide clinical services in the health care field
Enrollment in an institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) or the National Association of Trade Technical Schools (NATTS)
Demonstrated financial need
Current employee with at least three years full-time employment equivalency with SCPMG, KFH, or KFHP
Approved programs include: Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Dietitian, Optometrist, Pharmacist, Lab and Radiology Technologist, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse, Physician, Physician Assistant, Therapist (Physical, Occupational, Psychiatric), and Health Care Administrator.
