Nursing Pathways

Message from Leadership

Welcome to the Northern California Nursing Pathways Web site.

A Personal Welcome from
Anita Zuniga, RN, MSN
Vice President, Patient Care Services, Northern California

I am delighted to have the opportunity to share regional programs and opportunities with the Northern California Nursing Workforce. An area of focus for the Patient Care Services department is to meet your needs and support our Nursing Pathways. The PCS department is organized into functional areas including education, clinical practice, research, clinical systems, strategic planning, workforce, operations, quality, and safety. Our team has developed a strategic plan that focuses on nurses and their commitment to provide the highest quality patient care, patient safety, and service excellence.   In collaboration with our HR colleagues, we will continue our efforts in workforce planning with a focus on how we will project and meet the future short and long-term need for nurses. Recruitment and retention will remain a high priority as we continue our journey of Kaiser Permanente becoming the Organization of Choice for Nurses.

Our goal is to keep you informed on what is happening with our local nursing region by featuring the outstanding accomplishments of nursing units and our staff nurses. We will communicate best practices so that we can learn from our experts, share opportunities for personal and professional growth, and keep you on the cutting edge of what is happening in our region.

Together we have made great progress in following the Nursing Pathways established by Marilyn Chow. Our journey has just begun, and we now face the challenge of implementing the Nursing Pathways design at the frontline staff nurse level. You are an important contributor to that success and I ask for your involvement and active participation and support.

If you want to know how you can contribute, let us know what your needs are for education; participate in the programs and events we sponsor. You are our internal experts, who can share your leaning with your peers.

I am proud to be part of Kaiser Permanente and such a committed and dynamic nursing staff.
