Overview
Kaiser Permanente's Infection Control services are provided by professional staff in each of the regions' medical centers nationwide. The Infection Control program is dedicated to the prevention of healthcare acquired infections in patients who receive care in the inpatient and outpatient arenas of each and every Kaiser Permanente medical center and medical office building.

The Northern California Infection Control section provides a variety of regional Infection Control program information including:

  • Contact Information
  • Education Information
  • Peer Group Meeting Minutes

Please note: this section of the Web site has changed!
For all other Infection Control information, please now visit the KP Nursing Pathways National Portal's Infection Control section, which provides a compendium of products to help guide Kaiser Permanente's practice of Infection Control including:

  • The most current national work plan
  • Inpatient and outpatient Infection Control Policy Manuals
  • Vascular Access Device Insertion and Care Guidelines
  • Endoscopy Reprocessing Competency Program
  • Educational tools, including ready-to-use slide sets
  • Links to other related sites where external published guidelines are located, including relevant CDC guidelines.

The Infection Control program ensures that the most up-to-date and evidenced-based infection prevention interventions—including new products and technologies—are reflected in facility-level patient care provider policies. We also work to see that employees and health care staff receive information and training regarding these interventions and products.

The regional peer groups convene quarterly via national videoconference to further facilitate the collaboration and communication of Infection Control Professionals throughout the organization.
