Kaiser Permanente/California Nurses Association
(CNA) RN Quality Liaison Program
The program’s goal is to increase staff RN/NP participation
in the quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI) process
in Kaiser Permanente and to improve quality patient care and
outcomes. Our mission is founded on a philosophy that believes
patient safety is every patient’s right and every leader’s,
employees’, and physicians’ responsibility. It
is an ongoing commitment to build safer systems to prevent
preventable errors and to create a culture of responsible
reporting.
Short-Term Objectives
To create a mechanism to improve communication between
Kaiser Permanente management and CNA-represented RN/NPs
that will assist in timely resolution of nursing quality
issues
To understand Kaiser Permanente quality structures, their
roles and responsibilities, relevant members, and how to
access them
To understand the healthcare regulatory and accreditation
system and its influence on Kaiser Permanente and other
healthcare providers
To identify jointly common performance improvement and
quality improvement opportunities for RNQL's participation
and other nursing quality opportunities
To participate, when appropriate or applicable, in selected
Performance Improvement project and other nursing quality
opportunities
To have RNQL work with and function as a resource for
the PPC, Nursing Quality Forum and GRASP. In addition, they
will work with other staff nurse groups or individuals in
order to share information about the Kaiser Permanente quality
structure and to assist in resolving nursing quality issues
