The Nursing Research Council (NRC) was formed in 2004 by a group of staff nurses and managers who were interested in promoting evidence-based practice in the clinical setting. The group was formally written into the structure standards and several goals and functions were developed (please refer to attached goals and functions). Both TPMG and KFH staff nurses sit on the committee. Meetings are held monthly and are open to any staff interested in nursing research. Current projects include evidence-based practice performance improvement projects, classes for staff related to literature searching and critique, an annual nursing research symposium for local staff nurses, and formal research studies related to noise reduction in the acute care setting and Reiki therapy in patients receiving intravenous chemotherapy infusions. Several other facility-based research studies are in the process of being developed. Above all, the Nursing Research Council seeks to assist nurses and staff in research utilization efforts in order to improve patient care and outcomes. If you require assistance from the Nursing Research Council, please feel free to contact the chair, Rebecca Taylor-Ford, RN, BSN, or Dr. Anita Catlin, DNSC, FNP, FAAN, Research and Redesign Manager (see contact info. below). You may also attend any of our meetings, which fall on the third Wednesday of the month from 3:30pm-5:30pm (see meeting schedule below).
