Nursing Pathways

Northern California Nursing Research

Northern California Nursing Research (NCNR) is sponsored by KP's Community Benefit Program to improve the health and well being of our members and the Community at-Large.

NCNR Goals

  • Advance patient standards of care through evidence-based practice
  • Utilize nursing experience to examine clinically relevant problems
  • Maintain compliance with Protection of Human Subjects Federal Regulations
  • Promote projects that are aligned with strategic improvement initiatives
  • Support nursing research partnerships with academic, public, and industry partners that enhance the innovative development and distribution of nursing knowledge

Supporting Nursing Research

  • NCNR achieves these goals by:

  • Engaging clinicians in research utilization, evidence-based practice and nursing research
  • Facilitating formation of Nursing Research Councils at Bay Area facilities
  • Collaborating with staff and members of the Northern California Institutional Review Board to approve expedited, quality improvement, and research applications from students, RN's, allied health professionals and external (non-KP) investigators
  • Promoting dissemination of new knowledge and evidence-based practices at local, regional, national and international conferences
