On the cover:
"Tea in the Garden" by Barbara Poole, RN, is a mixed media, three-dimensional box painting with a handmade chair and fence (13x13). For many years, Ms Poole painted in watercolor, mostly in friends' gardens. Recently, she has begun to make nonconventional hand-pressed monoprints and to paint in oil encaustic, creating what she calls "memory paintings" that come from events or interactions with people. She has also begun constructing three-dimensional box paintings with handmade objects inside, one of which hangs at the KP Petaluma facility. Ms Poole has an art degree and teaching credential.

Ms Poole is an advice nurse at the KP San Rafael facility. More of her art can be seen in the Soul of the Healer section.
