Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Registry (ACLR) The ACLR (Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction) Registry was established to provide standardized documentation among Kaiser
Permanente's surgeons and health care providers in order to generate a registry database containing detailed information about
procedure, technique, graft type, and types of fixation and implants.  Roll-out began in 2006, in all Kaiser Permanente regions. By July of 2007, all sites had been inserviced: this includes participating sites in Southern and Northern California, Northwest, Colorado, Hawaii and Ohio.   The objective of the ACLR Registry is to (1) identify risk factors that lead to DJD, graft failure, meniscal failure, and failure to return to sports; (2) determine outcomes of various graft types, fixation techniques, and initial graft tension; (3) describe the epidemiology of ACLR patients; (4) determine and compare procedure incidence rate at participating sites; and lastly, (5) provide framework for future studies tracking ACLR outcomes. Since the establishment of the registry we have provided information to several projects that are now in their developing and implementation phases. Some of these projects are: the failure analysis of ACL reconstructions, gender differences in KT measures and subjective outcomes at 2 year follow up, gender differences in KT outcomes by graft type, time to surgery and associated cartilage injury, and re-operation rates in normal vs. reconstructed knees. |
