This is a graphic rendition of blood cells and diseases. The upper section represents a stem cell in the bone marrow giving rise to myeloid, lymphoid, erythroid, and megakaryocytic series of cells. The dynamic nature of these cells producing granulocytes, lymphocytes, red cells, and platelets represented in compartments in spiral movement. The section to our left shows the coagulation factors in the blood in the form of threads weaving for hemostasis. The spleen is depicted on the right with its nature to enlarge in the disease process. The lower section represents a lymph node and Hodgkin's lymphoma. The classic Reed-Sternberg cell with "owl's eye" feature and radiation ports, the "mantle" and "inverted-Y" are included.
