A. LA MONT BARITELL, MD, BA, (not pictured) known to all as "Monty," was trained at UCSF Medical Center. He was one of the founding partners of The Permanente Medical Group after World War II. He served as Chief of Surgery and, from 1953 to 1966 as Medical Director at Oakland. He returned to doing surgery full-time in 1966, and enjoyed the reputation of being an excellent, creative general surgeon. Avocations included walnut growing, and, after his retirement, he founded the La Mont Winery. Dr. Baritell died a number of years ago.
RICHARD A. DORAZIO, MD, FACS, has been with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group since 1971. He has been Chief of Surgery in Los Angeles since 1980, and is the Coordinating Chief of Surgery for SCPMG.
