chip timing
The 2010 Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon and 5K will be using chip timing. The chip will come with your bib number with instructions on how and where to affix the chip for the timing process. It is a new disposible chip and will not have to be turned in at the finish.
start time - 8:00 am for both the Half Marathon and 5K
The starting gate will be open for 10 minutes - all runners/walkers must start by 8:10 am.
point to point courses
both start at 8:00 am
half marathon
This RRCA Western Region Half Marathon Championship certified 13.1 mile course is ranked as one of the most scenic in the country by Runner¹s World. It starts at 8 am on John F. Kennedy Drive east of Stow Lake Drive and finishes on Martin Luther King Drive near the Great Highway. After three hours into the race, participants still on the course will be moved to the running path to finish the course (the finish line is open for four hours after the event’s start).
5K fun run/walk
The 5K event starts at the same time and from the same location, and ends at the same location as the Half Marathon.
divisions
Half Marathon awards will be given to the top three finishers in the following age divisions: 19 and under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54, 55-59, 60-64; 65-69; and 70 and over. 5K Fun Run and Walk awards will be presented to the top three finishers in Youth, Teen, Open, Masters, and Seniors divisions.
physically challenged athlete division
PAMAKID Runners and Kaiser Permanente believe that individuals with a disability deserve the inspiration, support and opportunity to participate in athletic endeavors that promote healthier, active lifestyles. In order to support that belief the 2010 Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon will introduce a Physically Challenged Athlete category for male and female participants. This category will require pre-registration as a PC Athlete and will be excluded from age group categories. Because this is a self-defined category any disputes or challenges about finish results or eligibility will be determined by a race sub-committee and their decision will be final.
scoring
The top 3 overall male & female half marathon winners & 5K winners times will be determined by the gun/bell start; age division winners will be scored by chip timing.
