Two Letters of Recommendation

(If you are a recent graduate, include a recommendation from one of your clinical instructors.)

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of the Department Administrator(s), Clinical Faculty, and Chiefs of Service of the Kaiser Permanente Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department where your application is submitted.

The applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

    1. Academic
    2. Post graduate training
    3. Clinical experience in Hand therapy
    4. Teaching experience
    5. Research experience
    6. Community Service

Minimal eligibility requirements for acceptance into the program include:

    1. Must be either an occupational therapist or a physical therapist residing in the United States or Canada, with a current certificate or license to practice in the State of California.
    2. Comply with all Kaiser Permanente employment requirements.

Desirable applicants include those who...

    1. For occupational therapists: Four years of experience in treating hand and wrist disorders in a general orthopaedic setting. For physical therapists: Completion of an APTA Credentialed orthopaedic physical therapy residency program, or certification as an orthopaedic physical therapy clinical specialist (OCS)Possess superior verbal and written communication skills.Have experience with being a clinical supervisor of therapists and therapy interns.Have experience in data collection, analysis, and publication.
    2. Have participated in activities that have positively addressed a need in the community.
