Kaiser
Permanente Southern California
Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency
Kaiser Permanente, Southern California Region is proud to offer a residency program designed to provide physical therapists with advanced knowledge and skill in a concentrated clinical environment.
The curriculum of this residency program is designed to provide physical therapists with advanced training in examination, clinical decision-making and treatment skills. The small group classroom and lab training sessions and one-on-one clinical supervision allow the clinical faculty to focus their instruction toward the individual needs of each resident. This program is recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association as a Credentialed Post professional Clinical Residency Program.
This residency begins mid December of each year and runs for 52 consecutive weeks. The clinical training in this residency program is fulfilled in two ten-hour days per week and the classroom and lab training occurs during 34 weekend days throughout residency year. Eighteen residents are accepted to participate in the program each year. The residents are employed and provide patient care at nine Kaiser Permanente Physical Therapy Clinics – located in Baldwin Park, Fontana, Los Angeles, Orange, Panorama City, San Diego, South Bay, West Los Angeles, and Woodland Hills. The residents are paid for the hours that they provide unsupervised patient care at the PT Resident rate (in Jan 2011, this rate was $26.00/hour with Benefits, $31.20/hour non-benefited). The residents also receive the Kaiser Permanente employee benefit package which includes health, hospital and disability insurance. The registration fee for the program is $500.00.
