Design for Joy.

KAISER PERMANENTE INNOVATION TEAM

We work with our care teams and members to bring joy and simplicity
into the complex world of health.

Established in 2003, the Innovation Consultancy started as a first-of-its-kind experiment to explore the value of human centered design in health care. At Kaiser Permanente, this unique team brings fresh methods that liberate patients, frontline providers and managers to discover, design and implement new ways to improve the care experience of our patients and the work experience of our caregivers.

“The Innovation Consultancy, by democratizing the methods of innovation, is democratizing health care, giving patients and caregivers a louder voice in designing for the future.”

Harvard Business Review, Sept 2010

OUR ITERATIVE PROCESS

A mash-up of the art of innovation and the science of improvement, our process is grounded in a deep expertise in ethnography, creative thinking, rapid prototyping, and iterative testing. Through these methods, our team has developed novel solutions that have touched more than 50,000 Kaiser Permanente clinicians and more than 2 million Kaiser Permanente members.

A SMALL BUT MIGHTY TEAM.

We are a multidisciplinary group of 10 people with diverse skills. But what binds us is our fierce belief that people’s needs and experiences can inspire innovative health care.
