Local Company to be Awarded Prize for Kaiser Permanente-sponsored Canned Food Drive
The McCart Group wins ‘Corporate Can Contest;’ more than 4,000 pounds of food donated
ATLANTA — Each year, companies participating in the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program are issued two challenges: get active and give back to the community by collecting canned food for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. For the third year in a row, The McCart Group has risen to both challenges and donated more canned goods than any other participating company.
“We are privileged to be a part of an event that focuses not only on the health and wellness of the corporate community, but also the broader community in need of food for their families,” said Nancy Burnett, director of marketing communications for The McCart Group. “Serving such a noble cause makes it easy to generate excitement around the Corporate Can Contest with both our business partners and our employees.” As a leading employee benefits broker in Georgia, The McCart Group works with many Atlanta companies to make health and wellness a priority in their corporate culture.
This year, a record 77 companies participated in the Corporate Can Contest, collecting 4,294 pounds of food to donate to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The McCart Group alone donated 2,452 items.
“It’s great to see so many companies encouraging their employees to give back,” said Angie Clawson, public relations manager for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. “This food drive helps kick off Hunger Action Month, which is in September, and I can’t think of a better way to ‘take action’ against hunger than donating canned goods to those in need.”
On Friday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m., Kaiser Permanente of Georgia will present The McCart Group with a prize package. The presentation will take place in the lobby of the Atlanta Community Food Bank at 732 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. NW in Atlanta. The prize package includes:
