Kaiser Permanente encourages members to live well
ROCKVILLE, Md. – Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States, in partnership with GlobalFit, is now offering discounted memberships to area fitness clubs as part of continued efforts to maximize the vitality of its members.
"Adding more exercise to your day can improve your physical and mental health…in a word it will let you Thrive," says Thomas A. Curtin, Jr., vice president of marketing, sales and business development. "This is one more way that we're helping our members get well, stay well and live well."
Kaiser Permanente members can now receive up to 60% off fitness club dues when they join through GlobalFit. There are more than 1,500 affiliated fitness clubs nationwide with over 90 in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore area, including Gold's Gym and Bally's Total Fitness.
By enrolling in GlobalFit, Kaiser Permanente members and their family members get a lower gym membership rate as well as more flexibility than if they joined the gym directly. GlobalFit offers month-to-month memberships with no long-term contracts. GlobalFit also offers members a unique ability to "freeze" or transfer memberships for up to six months per year without any additional transfer fees.
To find out more about this new benefit, Kaiser Permanente members can contact GlobalFit directly at 1-800-294-1500 or online through GlobalFit's Web site. "Make sure you let them know that you are a Kaiser Permanente member," urges Curtin.
In addition to discounting fitness memberships, Kaiser Permanente offers a wide-variety of programs and classes to insure that its members can Thrive including more than 120 health and prevention classes annually, like "Healthy Body, Healthy Weight" and "Nutrition for Weight Control." Other classes include nutrition, stress reduction, and self-esteem. Kaiser Permanente also offers discounts for complementary and alternative care providers offering acupuncture, chiropractic and message therapy.
