Support Groups provide a caring place where people with similar needs come together to learn and support one another.
Bereavement Support Group (Hospice Department 619-641-4100)
Bereavement Support Groups are free and open to all Kaiser Permanente members and the community. No appointment is necessary; simply show up at the location and time for the group you wish to attend. A Hospice staff social worker facilitates each of our ongoing groups and the specific structure of each group varies according to the facilitator.
Breast Cancer Support Group
Group meets twice a month, second and fourth Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. It is open for Kaiser Permanente patients only. Please call (619) 641-4456 for information and to enroll.
Cancer Support Groups
A support group for cancer patients and family members. This group is led by a social worker. There is no charge and it is open to all members and non-members.
Caregiver Support Group
Groups provide a safe and caring place to share feelings and concerns along with options and solutions for common problems. These groups are for anyone providing care for an ill or disabled person of any age. Groups are led by a social worker and a nurse. There is no charge. All member and non-member caregivers welcome.
Diabetes Type I Support Group
A support group for adults with diabetes Type I. This group is lead by a social worker. There is no charge and it is open to members and non-members. For information call 619-641-4564.
Special Care Nursery Parent Support Group
Special Care Nursery Parent Support Group - A support group for parents with premature or other high risk infants in the Kaiser Permanente hospital nursery. This group is led by a social worker and an occupational therapist.
Stroke Survivor Support Groups
Groups provide education on a variety of topics which change monthly. Group members are encouraged to participate in planning the meeting topics. The groups also provide fellowship and a supportive environment for stroke survivors and their caregivers to talk about living with the after effects of a stroke. Groups are open to all members and their support system. Non members are also welcomed.
